Let’s Talk with Summeet Seyan

In this episode, Isabella sat down with Summeet Seyan, who was born and raised in Canada and the US, as a first generation Indian-Canadian, before moving to London with her husband, shortly after she was diagnosed with PCOS due to irregular and lengthy cycles. After 6 years of being on the pill and then working on her diet, Summeet was able to fall pregnant naturally and have her first child. Soon after, her periods returned and they were regular, so Summeet assumed everything was back to normal and her PCOS had eased. It was then when her periods became extremely heavy, so heavy that she needed iron and B12 injections. It was then another two and a half years before they would welcome their next child, and this time navigating yet another health system, with Summeet and her family having moved to Japan. After this birth her period returned quickly and as such her doctor suggested the Mirena, but after six months of sharp pelvic pain and discomfort she opted to have it removed. Most recently, Summeet calls Sydney home and has recently undergone a hysterectomy due to her severe symptoms. She aims to share more about her experiences with women's health and what it's like to navigate four different healthcare systems, whilst trying to advocate for yourself. Summeet is incredibly open, honest and raw in her recount of her experiences and we really think you'll connect with this one.
