Let’s Talk with Freeda Thong

In this episode, Isabella chats with Brisbane babe Freeda Thong, founder and director of the social enterprise, Ecopads Australia. Having suffered painful periods, dysregulated hormones, amidst having on average three to five periods a year, she only just received a diagnosis of PCOS, after 17 years of thinking she and her body were weird. Freeda is passionate about women’s health, global equality and communication, evidenced by her actively working as a speech pathologist too!

Wanting to put an end to the landfill of disposable sanitary items, provide opportunities to employ and empower women, and break the stigma of menstruation and periods, Ecopads Australia was born. For every ecopad purchase you are sending one to a girl or woman in need overseas. The motivation and drive behind Freeda, working in two roles and doing so much good, just shines through this chat. We talk more about the why behind Ecopads Australia and the impact Freeda has been able to create, we also talk more about Freeda’s long journey to be diagnosed with PCOS, why she is so passionate about educating people and smashing period stigmas, what she would tell her younger self and how important it is to get educated about your period and your body.

Loved listening to Freeda!? You can follow her and stay updated on the amazing work Ecopads Australia is doing on Instagram right here @ecopadsaustralia and if you want to follow us on Instagram, we're at @letstalkperiodau.
